Yamaha MT-15 limited-edition launched in Thailand
It’s a commonly accepted reality that the automotive manufacturers are a bit unequal to India. Blaming the cost-cutting steps, we still get toned down iterations of international-spec models that render us feel somewhat out of position. But that is only justifiable because India is a price-sensitive market. One event like this is with the Yamaha MT-15.
The naked streetfighter focused on the R15 gets USD forks and an aluminum swingarm in other countries, but both skip the Indian variant. There’s one more item the visitors have got and we’re not going to. A new limited-edition Yamaha MT-15 debuted in Thailand only recently.
The limited-edition MT-15 seems to have only come out of a design factory, wrapped in a stunning shade of cyan blue that makes it look very vivid. The USD forks on the limited edition MT-15 are covered in a nice golden shade that distinguishes them from the rest of the motorcycle. The general work of lighting is accompanied by the neon yellow decoration on plates and petrol tanks. The neon treatment could also give you some ‘Rossi vibes.’
Any branches are left unchanged and have the same matte black care as the regular edition. The door, belly plate, engine bay, and exhaust for example start with the same appearance. Besides the cosmetic drama, the rest of the motorcycle remains identical. This gets the same 155cc engine that produces 18.5 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque.
The mill comes with liquid-cooling and Yamaha’s VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), rendering the Yamaha MT-15 a peppy motorcycle and fun-to-ride. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a clutch for support and slipper. An automated speedometer, LED headlamps and taillights, dual-disk braking, and single-channel ABS are other basic features.
Although in India we have to pay for the MT-15 about INR 1.39 Lakh, the Thailand people have to shell out THB 98,500 which translates to about INR 2.32 Lakh. Although chances of this limited-edition ‘tropical’ Yamaha MT-15 landing in India are slim to nil, we would always like to see it rolling on our highways. Isn’t this nude streetfighter making our cities appear ever more lively and colorful?
In other relevant reports, Yamaha is allegedly operating in the shape of a YZF-R25 M, on a 250cc four-cylinder sports bike. While the company itself has no official statement, rumors are blowing the roof in Indonesia that Yamaha wants to release its own 250cc four-cylinder sports bike.
It seems as though Indonesia would be the focus market for this latest motorcycle variety, as the Kawasaki ZX-25R was already introduced there. Yet when are we to guess? Yamaha is not the only manufacturer to develop a 250cc four-cylinder sports bike as it is believed that Honda is working on a 250cc multicylinder 250cc CBR250RR-R engine. Flashy times ahead!
