What do we get in the all-new 2020 Hyundai i20 elite? TorqueXpert Exclusive
It would not be a mistake to say that the revolution for a mid-segment premium hatchback in India was fueled up by Hyundai with its elite i20 launched back in 2014. Since then the i20 had its share of cartels, highs, and lows.
Now with the increasing competition in the Indian automotive industry in each segment, Hyundai is all geared up for the launch of its next-generation Elite i20 somewhere around the mid or late-2020.
Exterior: A Glimpse
The all-new 2020 Elite i20 is not just a mere facelift, rather a complete plastic surgery in itself. It gets an all-new design identity which Hyundai terms as Sensuous Sportiness, and to justify the term the new i20 gets completely redesigned sporty, aerodynamic, and edgy dynamic front profile.
The design language is carried further to the side with an edgy dynamic silhouette. The C-Pillar, unlike the current model which has a gloss or matt texture, the new model gets a fusion of Chrome and Black Gloss elements. Talking about the rear, well that’s the new attention seeker.
With its LED Combination Lamp, mingled with gloss black element and enhanced proportions, the rear draws the eye for sure. There’s also an optional black contrasting roof.
Interior: The Premium Touch
The new i20 gets a high design premium dashboard with horizontal lines blending with AC vents all across the fascia. Also, it may come with a class-leading 10.25” Centre touch screen system, with android auto and apple car play and bluelink connectivity.
More on offer are wireless charging, Digital instrument cluster, and ambient lighting. Also, the boot gets an extra 25L space, which totals the space to 351 Liter.
Engine: The sporty heart
India bound 2020 elite i20 will arrive with two BS6-compliant engine options on offer: 1.5-litre CRDI diesel with a power output of 100PS and 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol motor with a power output of 120PS. The petrol variant is expected to come equipped with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT while the diesel variant with a manual option only.
It is also highly anticipated to be offered with the tried and tested 83PS 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine.
Price: The competitive edge
With its all-new design and premium factors, the 2020 Elite i20 is expected to be priced higher than the current generation i20, whose base variant starts from Rs. 5.50 (ex-showroom).
