Volvo C40 Recharge Electric Coupe SUV To Launch In 2023

The company has revealed that the C40 Recharge will be its next EV for India, following the release of the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The future EV, which is based on the XC40 Recharge, would be introduced in India sometime in the following year. The XC40 Recharge coupe SUV will only have an electric drivetrain; an ICE alternative is not planned.

Volvo C40

The Volvo C40 Recharge, which is already available internationally, will be the automaker’s second all-electric model in India. It is available in three trim levels, Core, Plus, and Ultimate, and comes standard with a single electric motor that produces 231 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque and sends that power to the front wheels.

The “Twin” variant, which has a dual-motor setup with one on each axle and produces 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, is available for the Plus and Ultimate trims as well. On the WLTP cycle, the single-motor vehicle has a range of 430 km, while the dual-motor vehicle has a range of 433 km.

From the front, the C40 Recharge and the XC40 Recharge appear to be practically identical vehicles. However, the C40 has a roofline that slopes. The C40 has a completely new design for its rear end, which includes a twin-pod roof spoiler, a tiny spoiler, and taillamps that are distinct from those on the XC40.

2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge

The electric coupe SUV’s interior is identical to the XC40’s in terms of dashboard design, but it is the first Volvo in the world without leather inside. Volvo has taken the initiative to eliminate leather from all of their electric vehicles by the year 2025 in order to lessen the suffering of animals and carbon emissions. The first cars to advance this program are the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge.

The Volvo C40 Recharge won’t officially debut until sometime next year, as previously reported, but the automaker has said that this will happen. It will compete against the Mini Cooper SE, Kia EV6, BMW i4, and its own sibling, the XC40 Recharge, when it is released. Once the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is out, the C40 will also face competition from it.
