Toyoda Gosei and Asics Partnered To Make Sneakers By Using Recycled Airbags
Two well-known firms in their respective fields, Toyoda Gosei and Asics, have joined forces to develop a ground-breaking new sneaker composed of airbag fabric and steering wheel leather.
Toyoda Gosei, a division of the Toyota Group, is a world leader in the manufacture of airbag fabric, which is renowned for its sturdiness, toughness, and safety features. Asics, on the other hand, is a well-known manufacturer of athletic footwear and is a leader in the sportswear industry. Together, they have pooled their skills to produce a shoe that not only has a fashionable appearance but also offers the wearer the best comfort and security.
The upper of the new “sustainable shoes” is composed of leftover airbag fabric from production. Airbag material is strong and able to endure wear and tear from frequent use. The shoe is lightweight and comfortable to wear because of its material. A tailored fit is provided by the airbag fabric top, which is made to conform to the curve of the foot.
The sole of the shoe is created out of repurposed steering wheel leather that was once utilized in manufacturing. Leather is well known for its traction and sturdiness, and it is also water resistant, making it ideal for slick or rainy weather.
It’s important to remember that leather from steering wheels and airbags is considered to be difficult to recycle. Under the Re-S eco brand, Toyoda Gosei has been repurposing these materials to create backpacks, pen cases, and other goods.
The Asics Sportstyle line, which has a sleek, contemporary design, will serve as the foundation for sustainable footwear. The distinctive texture produced by the marriage of the leather of the steering wheel and the fabric of the airbags is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. There will also be other Asics models available.
The revolutionary shoe from Toyoda Gosei and Asics promises to revolutionize the sporting footwear industry. Beginning on January 26, 2023, it will be for sale.
