Tata Altroz XT variant gets updated with automatic climate control
The Tata Altroz is the Indian carmaker’s first-ever model in the luxury hatchback segment and was introduced back in January 2020. Likely relying on consumer reviews, to render its mid-range XT model a little more appealing, Tata Motors has launched one minor equipment upgrade.
With this update, Tata has introduced automatic climate control to the mid-spec XT version of the Altroz. Before the upgrade, the Altroz XT was only usable with a manual AC and this feature was intended exclusively for the XZ and XZ(O) trims.
Beyond that, the XT model is also pretty well set up, with things including a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a part-digital instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch color panel, keyless enter and go, speed control, a rear-view monitor, electrically customizable and rotating wing mirrors, LED daytime running lights and 16-inch alloy wheels, to name a couple.
Tata offers the Altroz with an 86hp, 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 90hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine – both of which are paired to 5-speed manual gearboxes; there is no automatic option yet. The XT trim is priced at Rs 6.84 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 8.44 lakh for the diesel version (ex-showroom, India), which interestingly, is identical to the pre-update model.
In terms of competition, the Tata Altroz XT competes in the premium hatchback segment and takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Hyundai i20.
