Tata Altroz CNG Spied
A Facebook user going by the name of Abhimanyu Komawar has reported seeing a test mule of the forthcoming Tata Altroz CNG version in Pune. The typical emission testing kit was spotted behind the mule.
Tata, along with Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, is developing CNG versions of its current 4-wheelers. The Indian company has already been observed road-testing the Nexon CNG and is anticipated to eventually adopt CNG powertrains for its larger SUVs as well.
The newly seen Tata Altroz CNG research mule has the same design as the petrol and diesel-powered variants and without any camouflage covering.
The Tata Altroz CNG should only be sold in a limited number of configurations and is most likely to be provided solely with the 1.2-liter normally aspirated engine. For comparison, there are a total of 31 versions for the premium hatchback.
The 1.2-liter engine will produce less power while using CNG fuel than it does when using petrol, as is typical with CNG (85 HP and 113 Nm). It may be paired with a DCT automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Altroz CNG might cost up to Rs. 50,000 more than the similar petrol-powered variant. Despite the high cost of petrol in India, many people would probably be prepared to take the risk.
The recently seen Tata Altroz CNG’s debut date is unknown, however, the carmaker may unveil the vehicle over the approaching holiday season.
It will be the first C class hatchback to provide CNG when it is released, giving it an advantage over the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20 in terms of operating expenses.
