Suzuki Electric Scooter To Launch In India By 2025
According to Suzuki, the first electric scooter would be available in India by FY2025.
Suzuki’s first electric two-wheeler for India will be comparable to a “small to a medium motorbike that will be utilized for daily transportation such as commuting to work, school, or shopping,” according to a global news release.
Although the press release refers to a motorbike, we anticipate that the first item will really be an electric scooter because of a language translation issue. In fact, we broke the news that Suzuki was developing an electric scooter specifically for India that was scheduled to debut in 2020. That was before the epidemic, though, and the company’s intentions obviously changed.
Suzuki has reportedly been testing an electric Burgman scooter, which has been seen multiple times over the past two years. It’s probable that this may be the company’s first electric vehicle (EV).
Honda is the only other Japanese company that has announced plans to introduce the Activa electric, an electric two-wheeler, in India in 2024. The focus on being oriented towards being easygoing everyday runabouts rather than being sporty, performance-focused vehicles is shared by both of these electric Japanese models.
The Hamamatsu-based brand also disclosed that it is considering using carbon-neutral fuels for its larger-capacity bikes in other motorcycle-specific news.
