MG Motors, having noted outstanding success where its three offers-Hector, Hector Plus, and the ZS EV-are now preparing to launch their fourth car in India. The MG Gloster will be a full-size 6-seater SUV. It was teased before the introduction of its Next-Gen Automotive Technology.
The new MG Gloster for India, based on the Chinese Maxus D90 SUV, was showcased at Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year. Testing on Indian roads starts sometime in October ahead of the official launch. The Gloster is mounted on the base of a ladder frame and measures 5,005 mm in length, 1,932 mm in width, and 1,875 mm in height. These measurements make it a little bigger than Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor likes.
The new MG Gloster bears slight improvements in terms of design compared to the model seen at the 2020 Auto Expo. It gets an octagonal front bumper, sleek headlamps with LEDs, a muscle bonnet, tail lamps with LEDs, and quad exhaust pipes. The Gloster will be sitting on 19-inch, multi-speak alloys finished in silver-gray. Take a look below at Gloster’s latest teaser video – showing the car in a new red maroon shade.
Not much is publicly known about its interiors. But leaked photos from MG India dealerships show it will be boasting the very best in terms of interiors, amenities, and technology as well. Gloster will receive leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument panel, tri-zone automatic air conditioning, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with I suite providing over 50 connectivity features renowned for by MG Motors.
Security features for all three rows will include front and side airbags, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning system, driver fatigue alert, electronic stability management, and ABS and EBD.
In global markets, the new MG Gloster SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 220 hp and 360 Nm torque. The engine will be mated to either 6 manual speeds or 6 automatic speed options. In India, the Gloster was able to get a 2.0 liter twin-turbo diesel engine built in-house which produces about 215 hp power and 480 Nm torque.
Automatic and AWD variants may also be a part of the offered kit. The MG Gloster SUV could be priced very competitively due to the heavy position of production at the company. We expect a starting price of Rs.45 lakhs, ex-sh.
