New Citroen C3 compact SUV India Launch In 2022
Citroen has stated that the C21 small SUV, which will be launched in India in 2022, will be its next offering. It has begun expanding its sales and servicing network in preparation for the launch of this mass-market product. This new model will be manufactured in India and will feature a significant amount of localization. This new compact SUV, which is expected to be called the Citroen C3 Sporty, was recently previewed in the shape of a promotional scale model.
The new Citroen C3, codenamed C21 internally, is the first vehicle in Citroen’s multi-model C-Cubed development, which was revealed earlier this year. Cars produced for emerging markets such as India and South America, to name a few, will be eligible for this program.
The new C3 (C21) will be supported by the new Common Modular Platform, as is the case with C-Cubed automobiles (CMP). This architecture is already used by several Peugeot cars in other countries, and it will be used to underpin a future made-in-India sub-4m Jeep offering.
Citroen’s unique design language will be carried over to the new C3. It will compete in India’s highly competitive compact SUV category, and its distinct design influences are likely to set it apart from its many competitors.
The new C3 will have a boxy appearance that looks a lot like the Hyundai Venue, but a closer look reveals certain design aspects that are frequent on Citroens. The C3 will be positioned at the bottom end of the compact SUV market, which means it will compete with the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Vitara Brezza, according to sources. A closer examination of the scale model exposes details such as flip-style door handles rather than pull-style ones, the absence of a sunroof, the absence of a shark fin antenna, and the absence of a rear wiper.
The model in the photos also appears to have pseudo-alloy wheels, which are more widespread in automobiles such as the Renault Kiger, Hyundai i20, and Hyundai Venue, to mention a few. Please keep in mind that the actual equipment and features on the model that arrives in India may change from what is shown on the scale model.
A 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine connected to a 5-speed manual transmission will power the new Citroen C3. A DCT-automatic gearbox is also being considered for this vehicle. The New Citroen C3 will not have a diesel engine, as we previously reported. The C3’s 1.2 turbo-petrol engine and short length will enable it to qualify for tax breaks and compete aggressively in the Indian market against rival small SUVs.
