Ever since its debut in the Indian market with its offerings of Hector followed by ZS EV, there’s no looking back for the Chinese owned British brand, and now it’s poised to take the game to a whole new level high with its upcoming Luxury Premium SUV MG Gloster
A glimpse into the Gloster
The Gloster is a full-size three-row luxury premium SUV which is going to conquer the topmost position in Morris Garages India lineup, even sidelining the upcoming Hector Plus. It is a rebadged version of Maxus D90 being offered in China and LDV D90 in the Australian market
Interior and Exterior: An Outlook
Although MG is yet to reveal the interior details, with its likely positioning and looking at the spy shots taken during its road testing, one can find out the interior is going to be spacious with class-leading features with a plush cabin and premium material.
Looking at the exterior of the SUV it got a big, bold and conventional upright style statement. It’s DNA sits on a platform whose wheelbase measures 2,950 mm with a length of 5,005 mm, width 1,932 mm and height 1,875 mm. Talking about wheel size, the model showcased at Auto Expo had a 19 inches (255/55) wheel, but what it would get on launch is something to look after.
Engine Spec
In the global market, the SUV is available with a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine under its hood. But, if reports are to be believed then, the Indian edition will come equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel unit derived from FCA’s Multijet II mill producing 218bhp and 480Nm of torque with variants ranging from RWD to AWD
Expected Timeline and Price
The SUV was supposed to be launched in the upcoming festive season, but under the Corona pandemic, everything lies uncertain at this point.
About the estimated ex-showroom price, it’s too soon to speculate anything but somewhat the price is going to sit in the range of Rs. 40 – 50 Lakh and will give a good competition to the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4.
