MG Comet EV Make Its Debut On April 19
According to market rumors, MG Motor India’s smallest EV will make its debut this month on the 19th. The Wuling Air EV, which is currently offered in the Indonesian market, will serve as the basis for the India-specific version. The SAIC Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform will be used in its development. Furthermore, a number of models are anticipated for the future smallest EV to enter our market.
Even though the India-bound MG Comet EV has not yet made an appearance there, the general public is aware of its anticipated price.Cost estimates for the new MG vehicle range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Everything is priced ex-showroom. The Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3 are set to compete with the small EV after their launch in India.
The next tiny EV will probably have several variations, as was already revealed. A unique model targeted toward young gamers is greatly anticipated in our industry. This unique version will be created in collaboration with gamer Naman Mathur, who is based in India.
In India, the electric vehicle would probably have two battery options: 17.3kWh and 26.7kWh. The smaller 17.3kWh battery will only provide a 200-kilometer driving range, while the larger 26.7kWh battery will offer a driving range of 300 km. The battery, when attached to an electric motor, will be able to provide a maximum power of 45bhp and a peak torque of 90Nm. The larger 26.7kWh, on the other hand, will produce 110Nm of torque and 50bhp of power with an electric motor.
From the outside, the EV of the future has a boxy shape. It has LED DRLS, LED headlights, LED turn signals, and split headlamps. Additionally, the EV has a chrome strip that spans the entire width of the vehicle and an LED light bar below the windscreen. A charging port has been added underneath the MG logo up front and split LED taillights are set high on the back. The electric vehicle will roll on smaller, more aerodynamic 13-inch wheels. There will be five different color possibilities for the EV: White, Pink, Yellow, Blue, and Green.
Two control sets will be located on either side of the two-spoke steering wheel inside the all-electric vehicle. The wheel’s versatile, round buttons also have an iPod-like feel to them. They probably operate the infotainment system’s voice commands and audio playback. Two 10.25-inch panels are fitted up as a split screen configuration on the dashboard. Directly below the screen are two horizontal AC vents and rotary air conditioning controls with chrome accents.
There haven’t been any feature announcements from the manufacturer yet. But according to industry reports, the brand-new electric car will probably come equipped with amenities like an electric parking brake, hill-start assistance, keyless entry and ignition, drive modes, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and other connected car technology.
The smallest EV by the British automaker is projected to sell between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh in India. According to sources, it would be made public on April 19 and then launched across the nation within 2 to 3 months.
