Hyundai Tucson facelift will be launched on July 14
After quite a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hyundai is all set to launch the latest Tucson facelift on July 14th, 2020. First made its debut at Auto Expo 2020 in India, earlier this year, the facelifted Tucson. We had previously reported that Hyundai’s next launch for our market would be the Tucson facelift.
The 2020 Tucson doesn’t break too far from the outgoing model in terms of architecture, as its overall style remains intact. That said, the facelift sports a new version of Hyundai’s ‘cascading’ grille, new headlamp and tail-light models, and revised front and rear bumpers, all helping to give it a fresh look.
The big change on the inside is the latest dashboard design, which features prominently a modern freestanding 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The latest device comes with Blue Link technology linked to Hyundai ‘s vehicle. A wireless smartphone charger, a panoramic sunroof, and electric front passenger seat adjustment are other new features on the facelift.
The most notable change to the Tucson facelift is that both the outgoing car’s petrol and diesel engines have been upgraded to meet the stricter BS6 emission standards. The 2.0-liter, the four-cylinder gasoline engine will produce 150hp and 192Nm torque while the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, the turbo-diesel engine will be good for 182hp and 400Nm torque.
For gearbox options, both engines will come standard with an automatic torque converter. However, while the petrol version will come with the older model’s 6-speed unit, the diesel will get an all-new 8-speed unit. All-wheel drive (AWD) will also be reserved for the top-spec (GLS) diesel trim.
The Hyundai Tucson facelift will rise against the Jeep Compass and Honda CR-V upon its launch, and the Korean carmaker will also be selling the Hyundai Tucson facelift in two trim packages – GL Choice and GLS. Prices are expected to rise with the mechanical and cosmetic updates over the outgoing model.
It should be remembered that Hyundai has already previewed the next-gen Tucson with the design of Vision T, which was shown at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. Originally the all-new Hyundai Tucson was set to make its international debut this year. However, those plans would likely have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
