Honda HR-V world premiere pushed to May 2021
Although the Indian market is expected to host the new Honda City, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has postponed the market launch of a few models abroad, including the next-gen HR-V.
The all-new HR-V, which was expected to be launched early next year, will now only be released in May 2021, as stated by us earlier. The latest model is critical globally for Honda because it will be the challenger of the brand in the tough midsize SUV market.
Although not much is known about new HR-V, we can confirm that the mid-size SUV will share its underpinnings with the latest-gen Jazz, as well as offering several engine choices including 1.0-liter turbo petrol and a mild-hybrid tech option. Like before, in Honda ‘s global lineup, the HR-V will remain below the CR-V but will see an increase in scale, measuring nearly 4.4 m in length.
This will allow Honda to introduce a lower-range smaller SUV. According to this website, this new SUV was supposed to be launched later this year but there may be a pause considering the current scenario.
Depending on the market, several mid-size SUVs will compete with the new Honda HR-V, including the Jeep Renegade, the updated Nissan Kicks, and the upcoming Toyota Corolla Cross.
The outgoing Honda HR-V was scheduled to arrive at our shores but the plan has been canceled. The model had a high level of import content which meant that when it came to pricing in the aggressively positioned new competition from the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, Honda India would have found itself in a disadvantageous position.
The new Town, Honda ‘s biggest 2020 launch, will see a price reveal in the weeks ahead. Honda is also expected to introduce the Jazz and WR-V versions of the BS6-compliant, mildly updated, soon.
