BMW X7-based Alpina XB7: Unveiled
The German performance brand Alpina has entered the full-size SUV segment for the first time by unveiling an updated version of the new XB7 based on the BMW X7.
The upgraded version XB7 is powered by BMW’s familiar 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, producing 612hp and 590 Nm of maximum torque which makes it more powerful in Alpina’s line-up. Alpina quotes a 0-100 kph in 4.2 seconds, a top speed of 290 kph, and a quarter-mile time of 12.6 seconds and weighs about 2,655kg.
The engine of Alpina features specific intercoolers, two supplemental water coolers, a larger transmission fluid cooler, and a unique exhaust system with active flaps that allow the driver to adjust the exhaust note.
The Alpina XB7 gets a 21-inch alloy wheel as standard, however, buyers have an option of 23-inch forged alloy units. In either case, the buyer gets Pirelli summer performance tires, four-piston Brembo brake calipers up front, and floating calipers in the rear finished in Alpina blue.
Alpina also claims “unrivaled agility “courtesy to its integral active steering, active anti-roll bars, and air springs. The XB7 also features firmer tuning and stiffer bushings.
Besides the high-performance, the interior includes 6- or 7-seat formats, luxury touches such as a glass crystal iDrive controller with etched Alpina logo, illuminated Alpina-logo door sills, and an Alpina-specific design on the instrument cluster. Among the interior included a three-part panoramic sunroof, soft-close doors, an Alcantara headliner, the Driving Assistance Professional package, and the Parking Assistant Professional package as standard, although LED ceiling display offering more than 15,000 light patterns, will be on option.
Prices for the BMW X7 range from Rs 92.50 lakh to Rs 1.07 crore (ex-sh, India).
