BMW X3 M40i Bookings Open Before Its Launch On May 2023
For a nominal fee of Rs 5 lakh, BMW has begun taking reservations for the X3 M40i. It will debut in May and only be offered in a small quantity. The M Sport package and M-specific kidney grilles with five twin-vertical slats painted in black are included as standard equipment on the X3 M40i. Additionally, it has dark chrome exhaust pipes, red brake callipers, and 20-inch M Sport alloy wheels. There are two colour options for the X3 M40i: Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire.
The M40i only comes with an all-black interior with carbon fibre trim finishes, in contrast to the normal X3’s dual-tone interior options, which include beige or brown coupled with black. The M40i receives a sizable 12.3-inch touchscreen with BMW’s iDrive 7 operating system, just like other X3 variants. Inside, the M Sport treatment continues with an M insignia in the centre console, an M-specific steering wheel, and M-specific seat belts.
The X3 M40i has ambient lighting, triple-zone climate control, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging. A heads-up display and a Harmon Kardon audio system are also included.
The X3 M40i’s engine is the same as the M340i’s: a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit. It has 500Nm of torque and 360 horsepower, which is 14 horsepower fewer than the M340i. The 8-speed automatic transmission transmits power to all four wheels. The X3 M40i’s claimed 0-100kph sprint time of 4.9 seconds is 0.5 seconds slower than the M340i’s, and its peak speed is 250kph. The X3 M40i has a 48V mild-hybrid system just like the sedan.
Additionally, the X3 M40i receives a number of performance upgrades designed specifically for M Sport, including adaptive M suspension, M Sport differential, variable sport steering, and M Sport brakes.
The Porsche Macan S, which costs Rs 1.43 crore, will be the X3 M40i’s main competitor in terms of performance. The latter is equipped with a 2.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine that generates 380 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. The Macan S is advertised as having a top speed of 259kph and a 0-100kph time of 4.7 seconds. The Audi Q5 (Rs 61.51–67.31 lakh) and Volvo XC60 (Rs 67.50 lakh) are competitors of the basic X3 in India.
