BMW M 1000 XR Prototype Unveiled
BMW has shared a few images of their M 1000 XR concept. The BMW M 1000 XR is a long-distance sports bike with exceptional long-range capability and supersports riding qualities. It is based on the BMW S 1000 XR, the company’s flagship sports tourer. For those who are unfamiliar, the S 1000 XR combines the sporting DNA of the iconic BMW RR badge with the ergonomics of the company’s GS badge. Following the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R, the BMW M 1000 XR is the third model with M performance equipment. The ‘M’ emblem, according to the manufacturer, is synonymous with high-performance BMW cars and is aimed at consumers who have high expectations for performance, uniqueness, and originality.
In terms of riding ergonomics, the bike features a front-wheel-oriented seating position and a large rear tyre for improved bike control. When it is released, the M Competition package with carbon fibre components will be available as an optional extra with the bike. The M 1000 XR is rumoured to have forged aluminium wheels, dynamic damper management, a slew of electronic assistance, and the Race Pro riding mode, which allows the user to configure the bike to their satisfaction.
The M 1000 XR is powered by an in-line four-cylinder engine with a total power output of 197bhp. ShiftCam technology with variable valve timing adds to the power quotient. The kerb weight of the motorcycle is 223 kilogrammes. The sports tourer is said to have the highest performance in the sector thanks to ShiftCam technology on the 4-cylinder engine and a kerb weight of 223kg. According to the German manufacturer, the bike has a top speed of 280km/h.
The BMW M 1000 XR Prototype has M winglets, which are said to provide higher aerodynamic downforce, enhanced stability even at high speeds, and a lesser inclination to wheelie. According to BMW, the increased wheel weight on the front wheel lowers wheelie inclination during acceleration, resulting in a faster lap time.
The M 1000 XR prototype, like the BMW M 1000 RR and M 1000 R models, gets the M brake with a radial hand brake pump, which is intended to give maximum braking performance on country roads, long-distance travels, and on the racing circuit. In addition, the M brake callipers have a blue anodized coating that matches the M emblem. A small windscreen and sweptback headlights with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs) are further significant design aspects.
