BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo facelift revealed
The Facelift for the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo (GT) has just been announced. Updates from revamped layout increased equipment rates and mechanical upgrades on the 6 Series GT range. BMW also continues to sell a broad variety of diesel and petrol engine options.
Styling updates to the 6 Series GT facelift include a broader version of BMW’s ‘kidney’ grille style, revised front and rear bumpers, and updated headlights and taillights. Nevertheless, the overall design is very similar to the one it is replacing, with the still present and noticeable sloping roofline and notchback style.
BMW is offering two petrol and three diesel engines for global markets. The 2.0-liter petrol line-up consists of a 630i, 258hp/400Nm, four-cylinder unit and a 640i, 333hp/450Nm, 3.0-liter, six-cylinder unit while the diesel variants include a 190hp/400Nm, 2.0-liter engine in the 620d, while the 630d engine (tuned to make 286hp and 650Nm torque) and 640d engine (tuned to produce 340hp and 700Nm torque) is available with a 6-cylinder 3.0-liter engine.
In its continuing attempt to electrify its entire range, BMW has also fitted all the above-mentioned engines with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This system is designed to boost fuel efficiency and to provide improved power, it can also add 11hp to the engine outputs for a short period.
The overall interior design remains relatively unchanged, although the facelift includes a larger 12.3 “infotainment system with the latest software from BMW and a new digital instrument cluster. Other features include an automatic climate control system for four zones, electrically adjustable rear seats (optional), a panoramic sunroof, a premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and more.
Although BMW has discontinued the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo in some markets due to low demand, there has been no such announcement for the Indian market. Currently, in India, the 6 Series GT is available in three versions. These include a 630i petrol with 258hp, 2.0-liter;a 620d 190hp, 2.0-liter diesel; and a 630d 265hp, 3.0-liter diesel. Its price ranges from Rs 64.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 75.90 lakh (ex-sh).
