Ather 450S Electric Is Likely To Be More Affordable
The 450S, a new low-cost electric scooter from Ather Energy, is anticipated to be released soon. The corporation has trademarked the ‘450S’ name, implying that a launch is not far off.
Ather applied for the 450S trademark in late March 2023, and the application was approved. In addition, the corporation has registered a trademark for what looks to be the 450S logo. Both of these considerations indicate that Ather’s lineup will shortly include a third electric scooter.
In terms of the scooter itself, little is known in the public domain. However, the Ather 450S will be less feature-rich than the top-of-the-line 450X. The 7-inch TFT touchscreen, auto-hold, and possibly even a riding mode may be dropped. This allows the producer to price the electric scooter competitively, allowing it to capture a larger portion of the electric scooter sales pie.
Ola, one of Ather’s primary competitors in the two-wheeler EV industry, already has a low-cost electric scooter called the S1 Air (which starts at Rs 84,999). As a result, the 450S should help Ather compete better with Ola, which has been India’s best-selling 2W EV maker for the previous few months.
Ather recently added a new entry-level variant to its 450X lineup, priced at Rs 98,183 (ex-showroom, Delhi with FAME-II and state subsidy). Meanwhile, the 450X ProPack costs Rs 30,000 extra and includes all the bells and whistles such as riding modes, rapid charging, and more. When it is released, the new Ather 450S is expected to undercut the entry-level 450X variant.
