Aprilia SXR 160 To Launch in November 2020 In India
Piaggio announced during the launch of the Vespa Sixties GP that they are planning to launch their much anticipated scooter-the Aprilia SXR 160, sometime in November.
At the Auto Expo in February 2020, Aprilia unveiled the Aprilia SXR 160 for the first time and it took all scooter enthusiasts by storm.
Although the SXR is being produced in Italy, Diego Graffi, CEO of Piaggio India, said the scooter is specially built for India. He also said the scooter will serve as a combination of luxury, state-of-the-art technology, and usability for Indian roads.
Like the Aprilia SR series, the SXR ‘s design is sporty too. But the SXR follows the maxi-scooter style approach. The long footboard, wide headlamp set-up, and big seat clearly express that.
The Aprilia SXR 160 will feature a digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, dual-LED headlights, disc brake, alloy, and a wide range of accessories on the tech front. Although the style is all-new, the headlamp reminds us of the middle-weight sports bike Aprilia-the RS 660.
The scooter will be powered by Aprilia’s BS6-compliant 154cc engine. Although the power figures are not present as of now, we expect sporty and punchy performance close to that given by the SR series.
There was news that an SXR 125 will be introduced by the Italian manufacturer too. But Aprilia has said that their main focus will be on the Aprilia SXR 160, as the 160 is currently more suitable for the market. They added that the SXR 125 may follow later but as of now, there is no definitive date or schedule.
Finally, the Aprilia SXR 160 was originally due to arrive in September, but as normal, the pandemic was playing the spoiled sport. Now the Piaggio group is planning to launch the scooter by November, and we hope they will make a good price for it. We expect to cost approximately Rs. 1 lakh to Rs.1.3 lakhs (ex-showroom).
