Aprilia has issued a recall for the RSV4 and the Tuono over faulty brake pads, around 3,287 units have been affected.
The brake pads have a high amount of Nickel in them which can result in accelerated water and salt absorption which can in turn lead to the brake pads getting corroded very fast and even lead to the break pads falling off the back-plate while riding without any warning and may lead to a fatal accident, all of this was found by the National Highway Transport Safety Administration (NHTSA) in USA, this has also been the case for Triumph’s Tiger 1200, Street Triple RS and Speed Triple RS and they recently issued a recall for these models.
Aprilia has issued a recall for the 3,287 motorcycles affected in the USA, the models affected by this problem are the Tuono V4 1100 RR, Tuono V4 1100 Factory, RSV4 1000 RR and RSV4 1000 Factory. The motorcycles manufactured between 2017-2020 have been affected. Owners of the motorcycles will be contacted soon and starting May 22, 2020 they will be called to their Aprilia Dealer and will get compliant brake pads installed free of charge.
To know whether your motorcycle is affected or not, you can also visit the NHTSA’s official site and go to the recall section here and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for more information.
