Bajaj Auto has finally launched the 250cc model of its popular flaghsip the Dominar. The Dominar 250 is not just a cost-cut version of the Dominar 400 and has many things to offer. Both the bikes share their engine platform with KTM’s 250 and 390 series.
Features & Styling
The Dominar 250 looks identical to the 400 with its full led headlamp, taillamp, split instrument console (without gear position indicator), twin-exit exhaust, split seats and muscular body work. However the swingarm on the 250 is a box type instead of the cast-aluminium one on the 400 and the wheels on the 250 are skinnier than it’s sibling. Both the bikes have USD front forks, but the Dominar 250 has smaller 37mm units compared the 43mm ones found on the 400. In the braking department the Dominar 250 gets a 300mm rotor at the front and a 230mm rotor at the rear while the Dominar 400 gets a bigger 320mm rotor at the front with the same 230mm rotor at the rear. The Dominar 250 comes with a Canyon Red colour while the Dominar 400 comes with a Aurora Green and both of the motorcycles share the Vine Black colour.
Dimensions & Kerb Weight
Both of the motorcycles share the same dimensions, wheelbase and ground clearnace at 2156x836x1112mm, 1453mm and 157mm. Due to the smaller engine on the Dominar 250, it has a lower kerb weight of 180kg compared to the heavier Dominar 400 having a kerb weight of 184kg.
Engine
The Dominar 250 has a 249cc liquid-cooled DOHC Single-Cylinder engine that produces 27bhp of power and 24Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.
