The Renault Triber is a crossover, a hatch back, a MPV?, honestly we don’t know. It is a mix of all those cars and makes a new segment of its own.
Let’s talk about what the car has to offer and is it worth your money?
Exterior
The exterior of the Triber has Renault branding all over, at the front there is a chrome plated large front grille. The roof rails add to SUV looks it is trying to have. At the rear there is a basic looking rear bumper flanked by the taillamps and a skid plate at the bottom.
Interior
The interior feels like from a SUV, both the rows of seats have ample headroom with very easy entry and exit.
The cabin has a dual-tone colour finish with a combination of dark and light grey.
The centre dashboard consists of a large 8-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System, its user interface is not the greatest but is ok. The steering wheel doesn’t have media controls and you may feel the need for it sooner or later.
The biggest selling point of the Renault Triber is the space and that it has a lot, with numerous storage boxes around the cabin and a 7-person seating capacity with decent seats in third-row too. The third-row occupants even have a dedicated AC vent and a 12v power output plug.
The third-row seats are completely detachable and make the Triber into a standard 5-seater with a very big boot space of 625 litres!
Engine
The Renault Triber comes with a BS6 compliant 1.0 Litre Petrol Engine which is good for 72 PS of power & 96 NM of torque coupled with a 5-speed gearbox with no automatic gearbox options available. The car feels a bit underpowered all thanks to the heavy kerb weight and a underpowered engine.
Handling & Ride Quality
The driveability of the Renault Triber is good but the steering feels heavy and steering feedback is almost not there and the suspension does a great job at managing most of the bumps on our unpredictable roads.
Safety Features
The top of the line model, RXZ gets 4 airbags, speed sensing door locking, ABS and reverse parking camera. While the base model gets ABS and 2 airbags.
Final Thoughts
Renault has tried to deliver something new and it has been able to do it with a spacious car with many features but we feel it still lacks on the build quality department other than that, the Renault Triber can be a good family car for the usual weekend getaway or city commuting. Prices start from Rs 4.95 Lakhs and goes all the way up to Rs 6.82 Lakhs.
