Suzuki Hayabusa May Not Be Discontinued. BS6 Model May Arrive.
In 1999, Suzuki brought the GSX 1300R, also known as the Hayabusa. Some said that the name Suzuki gave to the GSX 1300R was a direct jab at Honda’s Blackbird. That’s because Hayabusa in Japanese means “Peregrine Falcon”, which is the natural predator of the blackbird.
In India, the Suzuki Hayabusa is well known to be as the Dhoom Bike, actor John Abraham rode it in the Bollywood movie, Dhoom (2004). When it was announced in March 2019 that the Hayabusa will be discontinued in most places around the world excluding India, where it will be sold till 2020, it was a sigh of relief for potential buyers and fans alike, but recent articles by some media publications reported that, Suzuki had permanently stopped the sale of the Hayabusa until the new generation arrived in late 2020-2021.
But it seems that it is not the case and sources say that Suzuki maybe readying the BS6 model of the Hayabusa and they might go on sale in the coming months.
The Hayabusa had been receiving yearly cosmetic and minor mechanical changes for the past few years and has been the best-selling litre class motorcycle/ superbike in India, it doesn’t make sense for Suzuki to discontinue its best selling superbike due to a emissions norm change.
