KTM launched the 790 Duke in limited numbers in India in 2019, followed by the 890 Duke R a year later, and the standard 890 Duke last year.
KTM plans to release an updated 890 Duke R as well as a new 890 Duke GP in 2022.
The press release for the updated Duke 890 R states that it will get a new colorway, but there’s a line at the bottom stating that it will be a “sharper version” of the previous 890 Duke R. On February 7, we should know more about the full scope of the updates.
To recap, the 890 Duke R is powered by a 121hp, 99Nm, 890cc parallel-twin engine. WP Apex suspension suspends the frame, and Brembo Stylemas provide braking power.
Following the launch of the 890R, KTM will also unveil the Grand Prix-inspired 890 GP on February 22. While a GP iteration of a naked motorcycle may seem strange to some, the RC 8C program is gaining traction, and some parts from that bike may make their way onto the 890 GP.
