2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Spotted, Expected To Launch By September
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been spotted for the first time in India. The luxury SUV was unveiled to the public only three months ago.
The development mule of the SUV, which will most likely be assembled in the country, was discovered by MotorBeamer Vishva Ragunathan in the state of Maharashtra.
India is expected to receive only the 5-seat Grand Cherokee, which is also available in 3-row ‘L’ form in select overseas markets.
This fifth-generation Grand Cherokee is built on the new architecture and thus has a completely new design. The signature 7-slot grille remains, and the car also has LED lights, a large greenhouse, and wheels ranging in size from 17 to 21 inches.
Stepping inside reveals a new cabin with leather seats (front ones are electrically adjustable with massage and heating function), a 10.1-inch digital cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen, a 10-inch head-up display, a rear-seat entertainment system, and many other features.
In India, the recently spotted 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 293 HP and 352 Nm and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.
The 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, which has a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with an electric motor) and produces 375 HP and 637 Nm, is also expected to be available here.
That model has a 17 kWh battery pack and will have a pure-electric range of 40 km while still being capable of off-roading and fording waters up to 610 mm deep.
Jeep is expected to launch the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee in India in September, and the luxury SUV is expected to cost more than Rs. 65 lakhs (ex-showroom). Prior to that, Jeep will launch the Trailhawk variant of the facelifted Compass next month, followed by the upcoming 3-row Meridian in June.
