2021 Kia Seltos Gravity facelift revealed

For the 2021 model year in Korea Kia revised the Seltos. The midsize SUV now comes as standard with more safety kit and a new, top-end ‘gravity’ trim. Here’s a closer look at what’s changed on the famous Kia brand.

2021 Kia Seltos

The 2021 Kia Seltos Gravity comes with a range of cosmetic touches inside and outside that help differentiate themselves from the lower style, prestige, and signature trim levels.

The Gravity starts with a custom-made, chrome-studded front grill with hot-stamped, three-dimensional elements of design. It also is special, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Adding more pizzazz is a silver finish for the wing mirrors, garnishing the door as well as the skid plate at the rear.

With an exclusive, grey color scheme, the 2021 Kia Seltos Gravity stands out on the inside. It should be noted that the Seltos’ left-hand drive versions sold in Korea, the US, and Russia have a slightly altered dashboard configuration compared to the Indian-spec model-the most noticeable difference being the right-hand drive variant of the conjoint housing for the touchscreen and instrument binnacle.

As the top-of-the-line trim package, the 2021 Kia Seltos Gravity provides additional safety features such as forward collision avoidance assistance (which automatically prevents collision with an oncoming vehicle at an intersection) and rear passenger warning (which alerts the driver when exiting the car about passengers, such as children who may be seated at the back).

Additionally, it gets all the normal bells and whistles like a wide MID in the instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with UVO connected car software, ambient lighting, Bose sound system, automatic air conditioner, remote motor start via a key fob and a wireless phone charger.

Kia has also added to the 2021 model year Seltos more safety features as a standard, including lane support and high beam support functions.

The Gravity shares its running gear in their home market with the rest of the Seltos range. As such, it is getting a 177hp, 1.6-liter turbo-petrol engine, and a 1.6-liter diesel mill with 136hp. A 7-speed DCT automatic transmission is standard while the all-wheel-drive feature on both power plants is available as an option.

The India-spec Seltos, in comparison, gets three engine choices – 115hp, 1.5-liter petrol; 140hp, 1.4-liter turbo-petrol; and 115hp, 1.5-liter diesel.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard, each engine receiving its automatic transmission option.
No official announcements have been made about Kia India bringing in a new model like the Seltos Gravity. Nevertheless, the company recently rejigged the line-up of models and added new features for the 2020 model year to the India-spec Seltos.

The Seltos continue to battle it out in our market with the new Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier.
