2020 Mahindra Thar to debut on Independence Day
The 2020 Mahindra Thar quickly is one of the most awaited releases of the year. This was supposed to be completely unveiled earlier this year but the COVID-19 epidemic has postponed the launch of the new-gen off-roader. The 2020 Mahindra Thar eventually gives its world debut on 15 August.
Mahindra’s aiming to cater to a broader market with the current Thar. Dr. Pawan Goenka, MD and CEO, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, stated in a recent interview that the 2020 Mahindra Thar would deliver even more in terms of daily comforts than the outgoing model.
“The existing (outgoing) Thar didn’t have many home comforts, so we decided to turn it into a common vehicle with the latest model. Not the family ‘s third, or fourth engine. We had to put in all the comforts of the world, all the new things, and still retain the Thar ‘s DNA, “he added.
The latest model would throw in a touchscreen infotainment interface, a color multi-info monitor, rear parking camera, and power-folding mirrors where the initial Thar had little comforts to think about. A normal protection package will contain dual airbags, ABS, and rear positioning sensors as well as a factory-fitted, reusable hard-top.
Whereas the original Thar was only available in a diesel-manual setup, the 2020 Mahindra Thar would be available for the very first time with various engine-gearbox choices, including gasoline and automatic. It will debut a new 2.0-liter petrol engine from the mStallion family of Mahindra which will get a stock 6-speed manual and an automatic option.
However, the diesel-powered models are considered to be the mainstay of the collection. The diesel engine would be an almost 140hp variant of the 2.2-liter Mahindra mHawk model. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard while an automatic Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter is also available. Both engines come with a four-wheel-drive feature.
