2020 Mahindra Marazzo BS6 To Launch Soon – M2, M4+, and M6+ Trims
The Mahindra Marazzo MPV, which was launched in September 2018, is arguably one of the most underrated products on the Indian car market. At that time, it served as a desirable bridge between Ertiga of Maruti Suzuki and Innova Crysta of Toyota India.
The BS4-compliant Mahindra Marazzo provided enough and more on the inside, bearing a starting price of around 10 lakh ex-showroom (Innova Crysta rates started from 16 lakh then). But it was not able to witness the success that Mahindra & Mahindra had initially expected.
In April 2020, the Indian automotive industry moved to BS6 emission standards and major OEMs launched their bestsellers in upgraded, facelifted, or fully re-engineered BS6 avatars.
Mahindra, however, has yet to introduce the 2020 Mahindra Marazzo BS6 even though it has been spied many times over the months. The Indian automaker, meanwhile, will eventually unleash the new-gen offroader Mahindra Thar BS6 on August 15, 2020.
The 2020 Mahindra Marazzo BS6 for base M2 trim is priced from Rs 11.01 lakh. It is a price hike of about Rs 1 lakh, compared to the BS4 base M2 accent. Marazzo was offered in BS4 format with M2, M4, M6, and M8 trims. This is offered in BS6 format with M2, M4 +, and M6 +. The BS6 update no longer features an M8 trim. These three models are available in 7 seater configuration as well as 8 seater configuration.
Required features and equipment include LED DRL projector headlamps, cornering lights, 7.0-inch touch screen, wireless charging, 17-inch alloy wheels, puddle lights, rear parking camera + sensors, automatic climate control, rear ac vents mounted on the roof, various seating configurations, Eco mode, all-wheel disk brakes, six airbags, etc. Most possibly, the MPV will look the same as its phased-out BS4 equivalent.
Many of the top-end features may not be included in the BS4 edition, such as leatherette upholstery and cruise control. Considering the reduced pricing this is quite reasonable. Once released, it’ll go head-on against the Maruti Suzuki XL6 as well as being an affordable alternative to Innova.
In addition to some changes to comply with strict BS6 emission requirements, the 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine remains virtually the same. It churns out 121bhp and 300Nm of torque (98bhp in Eco mode). This is paired with a manual 6-speed transmission that powers the front wheels. There is a separate urea tank, as in most modern-day diesel vehicles.
2020 Mahindra Marazzo BS6 will be released in the next few days. Mahindra has started dispatching the BS6 Marazzo to dealerships in July 2020. Mahindra is expected to build a Diesel mill AMT version. Rumors also say that the works do include a BS6-petrol Marazzo.
