2020 Datsun Redigo facelift launched
Prices for the 2020 Datsun Redigo facelift were publicly announced. The revised Redigo is priced between Rs 2.83-4.77 lakh with four trim levels and three variations of engine-gearbox.
The retail price of the BS6 2020 Datsun Redigo 0.8 at this price point is just Rs 3,000 more than its outgoing version. The Redigo 0.8 T(O) and Redigo 1.0 T(O) (manual) models are rated Rs 54,000 higher than their pre-facelift versions respectively. Whereas, the price of the Redigo 1.0 T(O) top-spec with the AMT gearbox is 40,000 rs higher than that of Redigo ‘s pre-facelift.
The most noticeable distinction is design – extensive improvements are emerging both outside and in. Featuring slimmer headlights, longer L-shaped DRLs, a tweaked front bumper, chrome surrounding on the grille, and segment-first LED fog lamps, the entire front-end has been revamped. The top-spec version gets new dual-tone wheel coverings (which look like alloy wheels), while the bigger wing mirrors that can be changed from inside the cabin are standard throughout the series. Such recent changes have done a lot with the aesthetics of the Redigo but are still useful –the budget hatchback now follows crash check and safety requirements with pedestrians. There are also two additional color choices available-brown and blue-providing a total of six options for buyers. Note that shiny colors sum up the price tag to Rs 3,000.
Inside, the biggest addition is the new 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen system which is compliant with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This model serves as the rear parking camera monitor, too. New grey and silver inserts, two-tone fabric seat coverings, and new door trimming make the cabin look much more upmarket.
The 2020 Datsun Redigo facelift also receives technical improvements. Both 54hp/72Nm, 0.8-litre, and 68hp/91Nm, 1.0-litre, petrol engines are being upgraded to meet BS6 emission standards. As before, they both get a manual 5-speed gearbox while the 1.0-liter engine also gets a 5-speed AMT option. Compared to the BS4 engines, ARAI mileage figures are dropped as planned. Redigo 0.8 is now valued at 20.71kpl Redigo 1.0 at 21. and Redigo 1.0-AMT at 22kpl.
Starting prices for the0.8-liter Redigo facelift undercut both its rivals–the Renault Kwid 0.8 and the Maruti Alto engine. The Top-spec model of the Alto is more economical but it lacks features including an infotainment touchscreen interface. The Redigo facelift would cost just Rs 8,000 less than the Kwid 0.8 in top-spec 0.8-liter size. It works out pretty well for consumers who don’t want to skimp on features on a small budget.
In terms of price, this is a better fit with the 1.0-liter engine for the Redigo facelift. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is just below all prices while this category has the top-spec model on the expensive side. For comparison, the Redigo AMT is reasonably priced, while the Renault Kwid 1.0 is the most expensive hatchback on the market.
